What is a "good price"?

What is a “good price” for a cleaning company?

This question can be tricky. Of course some people may expect a premium for a good cleaning company. Not to mention, some people might expect even more money for a green cleaning company. But a lot of those feelings are misconceptions. In fact, there is really only one reason to pay a high premium for a cleaning service: not enough research!

Fun Fact:

  • The average price of a cleaning in Roseville or Minneapolis is $200 for 4 hours. That’s outrageous!

Why are so many companies charging so much for their cleanings?

Some companies operate on the assumption that people are not going to do their due diligence in finding out what is a fair price. Other companies have way too much overhead in the form of unnecessary buildings or expensive materials and products. And finally, way too many companies are focused on paying their workers too little and keeping a lions share of the money they charge you.

The first reason is pretty self-explanatory. Many companies rely on their search ranking and their branding to manhandle you into paying unfair prices for a simple home or office cleaning. This is wrong. Cleanings should be affordable. It is a service after all. The goal is to help average people. And let’s be honest: cleaning a house isn’t rocket science. For that reason, you really don’t need to create an expensive market for simply cleaning a home or office.

Other companies have just absolutely insane overhead costs. Why would you need your own building for your business if you travel remotely to the clients house to clean them? It makes no sense. Any and all business related activities can take place in very small office buildings or at someone’s home. There is no reason to get an expensive property to house your materials or to have employees to contact clients. This only creates an inflated price point for the customer and leads to larger issues that don’t directly affect the service a customer is getting.

And finally, too many companies don’t even pass those high-prices onto their workers. They selfishly keep a large portion of the money they charge a customer per hour for themselves. This is why we were founded. We found working for other companies was just plain unfair. They took more than HALF of the money they charged clients. Why do you think that is? Because they can. And if you asked most clients, they would probably be royally upset about how little the actual cleaners themselves were getting. There is no transparency for these companies.

The point here is that you should do your research and come up with a price point that seems fair for what service is being provided. But let’s be honest, choose someone that is cheap and competent. Like us. If you don’t, it may come back to bite you.
